Airfield masterplanning for London Luton Airport

As part of the development of the new masterplan for London Luton Airport, Fjori was commissioned to be part of the masterplanning team with a focus on key airfield assets and their development through the masterplan period. The overall development plan includes £100m portfolio of projects that will increase the airport’s capacity to 18 million passengers a year.

Fjori carried out preliminary engineering studies in order to develop robust budget estimates for airfield development elements. These studies included full geometric planning to ICAO standards and an assessment of key engineering constraints.

The work carried out by Fjori served to inform both the business case and the ultimate masterplan. Working in conjunction with other consultants, the project included the integration of specific airfield developments within the existing airfield and all necessary safeguarding.
